HARRY Milne says he was expecting to have to battle through a tricky spell at some stage of this season.
We face Clyde at Balmoral Stadium tomorrow looking to improve on a run of four League One matches without a victory.
Left-back Harry accepts that will be tough against opponents who have many seasons’ experience of playing at the level we now find ourselves in – but it’s a challenge he is relishing.
“We are under no illusions about the size of the task in front of us, we knew it was going to be tough,” said Harry.
“The league is full of sides and players who have been over the course many times before, I suppose you could say they are more streetwise than some of us.
“But we believe we can rise to the challenge that presents and compete with them at the top end of the table.
“It will take a lot of hard work, but that’s something none of us are afraid of.
“Playing teams like Clyde is what I’m in the game for.
“Having come up with the club from the Highland League, I want to test myself and keep progressing as a player.
“Not having a lot of experience of runs without victories could actually help us.
“It’s not something we have enjoyed and will make us even more determined to avoid doing it again.
“Another thing we are encouraged by is the belief that, despite our recent results, we aren’t playing badly.
“We created plenty of chances in those last four games but failed to take enough of them.
“I was one of the guilty ones at Dumbarton last weekend.
“I failed to score with a late header, although I have to say I feel I could have done better if I hadn’t lost sight of the ball in the floodlights as it came over.
“It hasn’t affected my confidence though – I will keep getting in there looking to get on the end of crosses.
“That’s because I know that the way we play football means there will be plenty of other chances for me to score.
“We were also guilty of lapses of concentration in the lead up to some of the goals we conceded, which isn’t like us.
“We know we can do better because we have proved it before.
“It’s a case staying positive and continuing to believe that we can compete with whoever is in front of us.
“If we do that, we will be fine.”
