GOAL scorer Rory McAllister and manager Paul Hartley spoke to the media after we kicked off the New Year with a 1-0 League One victory over Peterhead at Balmoral Stadium.
Rory netted the winner after just 90 seconds and admitted he isn’t bothered by the fact we failed to capitalise on Peterhead then having two players, Simon Ferry and Steven Boyd, sent-off.
“Any three points is welcome in this league, I don’t really care how we get them,” said Rory.
“There have been plenty of occasions this season when we have played better and lost.
“We were delighted to get the early goal and probably should have scored a few more, especially in the first half, but that’s football at times.
“You also have to give Peterhead credit for the way they dug in after going down to nine men, even though it spoiled the game as a spectacle.
“I was just delighted to get another goal and another run in the team for the full 90 minutes.
“It was also great to get another win on the back of the poor run we were on before the turn of the year.
“The aim now is to see if we can go on another wee run of victories to keep the pressure on those around us in the league table.
“It won’t be easy, this is a tough, tough league, but beating Peterhead will give us confidence as we attempt to push on.”
Manager Paul said: “We know we can do better than we did in the second half.
“We were wasteful with chances and a wee bit anxious at times.
“Having said that, we controlled the game and once we got the goal always looked likely to win.
“We created enough opportunities to get another but weren’t ruthless enough when we needed to be.
“But we won and that’s what football is all about.”
