MITCH Megginson is excited by the prospect of facing former club Alloa Athletic in the second round of the Scottish Cup tomorrow.
Skipper Mitch spent two spells with The Wasps, the first on loan from Aberdeen (when our manager Paul Hartley was in charge of Alloa) and for six months prior to his move to Cove in 2016.
He also made his debut for us in our only competitive meeting with Alloa, when we lost 4-0 away to them in the group stages of the Scottish League Cup in July 2016.
Mitch said: “It’s nice to be going back because I really I enjoyed my time with Alloa.
“They have a lot of good people at the club and really look after their players.
“A few of my old team-mates, such as Kevin Cawley, Andy Graham and Steven Hetherington, are still at the club, so it will be nice to catch up with them.
“Despite being part-time Alloa have always had a pretty strong squad and done well to compete at Championship level for a number of years now.
“We know we will need to be at our very best to take anything from the tie.
“I’m obviously hoping we can do a lot better than we did when I made my debut down there for Cove.
“It was a tough experience for us but I like to think we have moved on a lot, as a team and a club, since that day.
“We are also going there in a confident mood after winning our last two league games, so it’s a challenge we are all looking forward to.”
