MIDFIELDER Connor Scully spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s League One clash with Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium.
Connor said: “We caused Falkirk problems the last time we met and we will be going down there hoping the same will happen again.
“It’s going to be tough though because Falkirk are full-time, so have more scope to maybe freshen things up with the games coming thick and fast.
“Despite that, we will be ready to go again and willing to give it the best shot we can.
“Personally, I do my best to behave and prepare as if I were a full-time player.
“I’ve changed a lot, things like my diet, sleeping habits – practically everything I do away from football in the hope that it will ensure I’m able to give my very best when called upon.
“I knew I had to if I wanted to compete with the quality of players I’m now finding myself up against.”
Being in third position when League One split means we also have to play all four of our final fixtures inside the space of a week.
Connor accepts that’s not ideal – but asked the Cove fans not to forget how big an achievement it is to have got to where we are right now in our first season playing at this level.
He said: “To be right up beside the full-times sides at this stage is something we can be pleased with.
“I’ve said it before and I feel it needs to be repeated – our aim at the start of the season was simply to stay up.
“Coming into League One was a huge step for our club and we knew it would be a big challenge.
“As the season progressed we started to look at where we were and wonder if we could aim higher.
“It’s great to now find ourselves still in the fight to maybe get promoted, but none of us are going to start getting carried away, we know we are very much the outsiders as far as that goes.
“As is always the case, we will look no forward than this next game and do all that we can to take points from it, then see where that leaves us.
“We are treating things as if we have four cup finals to play.
“The encouraging thing is this tends to be the stage of the season when Cove stand up to the challenge.
“In all my years at the club we have always responded positively when we have got to what everyone describes as the business end of a campaign.
“It’s when every game is huge and we have always managed to kick on and we can only hope that will be the case again.”
