Partick Preview: Leighton McIntosh

Back to news

STRIKER Leighton McIntosh is confident the players can handle the hectic end to our programme of League One fixtures.

Tonight’s meeting with Partick Thistle is the second of the four games we have to play inside the space of a week.

Leighton, who scored in the first of those – our 2-2 draw away to Falkirk on Saturday – said: “It’s been strange going for weeks when we weren’t even able to train together to having to play so many matches close together.

“But we are the type of team who thrive on playing in actual matches as opposed to training.

“We are also a passing side, we are all comfortable on the ball, so when we do play it tends to be less of a physical challenge than it might have been if we played in a different manner.

“We also have a strong squad and the manager will rotate things to ensure we have the best chance to get the results that we want.

“It’s accepted we are all going to have to pull our weight and support each other as best we can.”

We have no fresh injury problems and defender Ryan Strachan is available again after serving a one match suspension at the weekend.

You can read the full interview with Leighton McIntosh in the latest edition of UnCOVEred, our free online programme.

It also contains a feature on the man unknown to most Cove Rangers fans who has played a key role behind the scenes since our promotion to the SPFL and exclusive columns from manager Paul Hartley and captain Mitch Megginson.

Former Cove Rangers, Montrose, Forfar Athletic and Arbroath winger Kevin Webster will be the co-commentator – along with Scott Davie – for CRFC TV’s live coverage of the Thistle match this evening.

Fans are reminded the kick-off is at the earlier time of 7pm.
