Back to news

We are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced midfield duo Ross Draper and Iain Vigurs, who have penned three year deals with the club.

Both players have made more than 300 appearances at Scottish Premiership level during the course of their careers and were team-mates at Ross County last season.

Ross, 32, was also a member of the ICT side that lifted the Scottish Cup in 2015.

Manager Paul Hartley said: “To secure the services of two players who were regulars at Premiership level last season is a huge boost to our club.

“Ross and Iain are not only experienced they are also leaders on the park and will be a great help to everyone in the squad.

“It’s important to keep adding quality to the group if you hope to continue to progress and we have certainly done that.

“Ross and Iain had other offers, but chose to come to Cove because they can see we are ambitious and they want to be a part of what we hope to achieve.

“I would also like to thank the Chairman and Directors for making sure we were able to bring two highly respected and talented players to the club.”

Wolverhampton-born Ross played for Shrewsbury Town, Stafford Rangers, Hednesford Town and Macclesfield Town before moving north of border by signing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2012.

The central midfielder made close to 200 appearances during his five years at Inverness, helping them lift the 2015 Scottish Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

He was also named man-of-the-match in the 2014 Scottish League Cup final, which they lost on penalties, to Aberdeen.

He joined Ross County in 2017 and helped the Staggies win the Championship title as well as the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2018-2019.

Ross and Iain were among the nine players to move on from the Dingwall club at the end of last season.

Iain, born in Aberdeen but raised in Stonehaven, has played at Premiership level for Motherwell, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County.

The 33-year-old started out as a youth player with Aberdeen and then Celtic before embarking on what has been an impressive career.

He was aged just 15 when he made his first team debut for Elgin City, before starting the first of two spells at Inverness, in 2006.

Iain helped Ross County gain promotion to the top flight, for the first time in their history, during his first spell in Dingwall. He was also part of the Staggies side which won the Championship and Challenge Cup double in 2019.

Everyone at the club would like to welcome Ross and Iain to Cove Rangers and wish them well during their time at Balmoral Stadium.
