Rory McAllister spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s Premier Sports Cup Group A tie against his former club Peterhead at Balmoor Stadium, 3pm KO.
Rory said: “Many of the best years of my career were spent playing for Peterhead, so it’s always nice to go back.
“I still know a lot of their players and made so many friends up there and it will be great to catch up with them after the match.
“It will be all about trying to get a positive result for Cove Rangers before that though.
“Peterhead are a bit ahead of us as far as preparation goes, so it’s going to be another tough 90 minutes.
“We want to do well though and will be looking to get a positive result that can give us a boost as we move closer to the start of the league programme.
“I’m sure Peterhead will be eager to do the same, so it could end up being an entertaining match.
“For me personally, it’s about hoping to impress so that I’m also involved in the league opener against Falkirk.
“Like everyone else at the club, I’m eager to see if we can go a step further than we did last season.
“We were delighted to make it to the play-offs but the amount of games we had to play, in a short space of time, just caught up with us in the end.
“The pre-season has been a bit bizarre so far because of the COVID situation, but it’s been the same for a lot of clubs.
“You just have to get on with things and keep working hard to make sure you are ready to go in the league, which has always been the priority.”
