Logan & Anderson Join Cove

Back to news

We are delighted to confirm the signing of former Aberdeen defenders Shay Logan and Jevan Anderson.

Full-back Shay, has agreed a three year deal that will keep him at Balmoral Stadium until at least the summer of 2024.

Jevan, who can play anywhere across the back line, has signed a one year contract, with the option to extend next summer.

Both players go into the squad for Saturday’s League One opener against Falkirk at Balmoral Stadium.

Paul Hartley said: “They are two superb signings for us.

“A lack of defensive cover caused problems for us last season, so it’s great to have addressed that.”

Shay began his career with English Premier champions Manchester City and also spent time on loan with Grimsby Town, Scunthorpe United, Stockport County and Tranmere Rovers before joining League One Brentford, in 2011.

He agreed to join Aberdeen on loan in January 2014 and helped them win the Scottish League Cup two months later.

Shay signed for the Dons on a permanent deal that summer and became a huge fans’ favourite during his seven years at Pittodrie, during which he made he made just short of 300 appearances and scored 14 goals.

Shay joined Hearts at the tail end of last season where he made five appearances before becoming a free agent in the summer.

Paul said: “We’ve been working on getting Shay over the last few weeks because it was clear he would be a huge asset to us.

“It’s pleasing a player who was such a mainstay at Aberdeen for a number of years sees his future with us.

“Shay is the third player to join us this summer who was a regular at Premiership level last season, joining Iain Vigurs and Ross Draper.

“Their experience will be of massive benefit to the younger players at the club in what we know is going to be another very challenging League One campaign.”

Jevan, the son of former Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson, came through the youth system at Pittodrie before spending a period in the Highland League with Formartine United.

He joined English League One side Burton Albion in 2019 and spent time on loan at Hereford and Kettering Town.

Jevan was one of 12 players to leave Burton during the close season.

Paul said: “Jevan has been training with us and done very well.

“He’s an ambitious and talented young player and joining us gives Jevan the opportunity to gain first team experience.

“It’s vital we offer young players a platform to progress their careers and I’m certain Jevan can also make a big impact in the coming season.”

Everyone at Cove Rangers would like to welcome Shay and Jevan to the club and wish them well during their time with us.
