Rory McAllister and manager Paul Hartley spoke to the media after our cinch League One 1-1 draw with Falkirk at Balmoral Stadium.
Rory, who came off the bench to net our equaliser, said: “You have to try and get something out of games when you are not playing well and not winning, so we are pleased to have done that.
“If you look back over the years the teams who do best in the league are the ones who don’t lose on days when they maybe could have.
“We would have preferred to win, but a draw against a full-time side like Falkirk gives us a good buzz and a bit of momentum going into the next game.
“We have a good enough squad to compete in this league and I think we will.
“It was great to score and it was from a clever lay-off from Mitch (Megginson).
“Hopefully we can get a few more games together because we always combine well.
“I don’t want to be labelled as a super-sub, I want to be playing from the start – but there’s a good few others in the squad thinking the same.”
Paul Hartley said: ”The players showed good character and earned a point through a very good goal.
“We weren’t at our best, but sometimes at the start of a season it can take you about six weeks to really get into the flow of things.
“We can improve, that’s for sure, but the lads don’t need me to say that.
“They know we didn’t perform at the levels we can do, but we didn’t get beat.
“I’ve always said ahead of the first game of any league campaign that if you can’t win then at least make sure you don’t lose.”
When asked if he was happy to see substitute Connor Scully come on and set up fellow sub Rory’s goal, Paul replied: “That’s what they are there for.
“You bring subs on to make an impact.
“The game wasn’t going our way, so we had to change it.
“We managed to go with Rory up front and he did what he’s good at.”
On facing Queen’s Park away (at Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium) next week, Paul said: “Every game is tough in this league.
“We have 35 to go and we know we won’t get an easy one, you can see that by some of the other results.
“There is never a shock in this league because anybody is capable of winning.”
