Montrose Preview | Fraser Fyvie

Back to news

Midfielder Fraser Fyvie spoke to the media ahead of our return to cinch League One action tomorrow, when we entertain Montrose at the Balmoral Stadium.

Fraser said: “It’s a game all of us are really looking forward to.

“I would argue that Montrose and ourselves were the best two sides, from a footballing point of view, in the division last season.

“Every game we played against them was competitive, but also highly enjoyable.

“I’m sure it will be the same tomorrow because Montrose are a good side collectively and also have very talented individual players.

“There is no doubt we will need to be at our best but that’s the sort of challenge I like.

“We are going into the game in far better shape, squad-wise, than we have probably been all season.

“There was close to a full squad at training this week, which hadn’t been possible at any stage before because of people being ill or having to isolate because of the covid protocols.

“I was one of those affected because I had been a close contact and it has been hard for the manager and his coaching staff to prepare properly for games, which has been reflected in some of our results.

“I’m hoping having so many finally able to make training is a sign we are over the worst of it and can now get our season up and running.

“The sessions this week were also a timely reminder of just how much the competition for places has increased since last season.

“We all know we are going to have to maintain high standards if we want to stay in the team.

“I was a lot happier with my performance last weekend (we beat Stenhousemuir 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the SPFL Trust Trophy), although I feel I can still play a lot better.

“That’s what I will be trying to do, if picked, in the game against Montrose.”

If you can’t make it along to Balmoral Stadium the match will be screened live on CRFCTV, with commentary by former BBC Scotland broadcaster Scott Davie and Dave Macdermid. To purchase your PPV pass, click here.
