Airdrie Preview | The Captain

Back to news

Club captain Mitch Megginson is expecting a tough test in our cinch League One clash with Airdrie at Balmoral Stadium tomorrow.

It will be our first meeting with Diamonds since losing to them in the semis of the Championship promotion play-offs last season.

Mitch said: “It could be another cracker of a game.

“Airdrie, like ourselves, have ambitions to be among the sides competing at the top end of the table again.

“It really hurt losing to them in the play-offs, even more so because I had to go off injured in the final game so could do nothing to help us.

“Airdrie also suffered disappointment when they lost to Morton in the play-off final.

“It’s all well behind us now.

“This is a new season, so it’s a fresh opportunity to see if you can maybe go a step further than the last time.

“Airdrie will come here confident they can take something from the game and we have to be ready for that.

“You only need to look at how tight the league table is to see how hard it is to win points in this division.

“It’s good the game is at Balmoral, where we have a great record and enjoy playing on the surface.

“But if we don’t perform at our best Airdrie will cause us problems.”

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3pm and you can purchase tickets for the match here.
