Clyde Reaction | The Manager & Scully

Back to news

Connor Scully and manager Paul Hartley spoke to the media after our 3-0 cinch League One victory over Clyde at Balmoral Stadium.

Connor, who played at left-back in the match, opened the scoring with what was his first goal of the campaign, just before the interval.

Connor’s last strike for the club was also scored against Clyde, when we drew 1-1 with them at Broadwood Stadium, back in April.

Connor said: “I mentioned that to Morgyn (Neill) right after it happened.

“The ball just landed at the right place for me and I took a swing at it, with my right foot, and luckily it went in.

“The gaffer had been saying more of us needed to be scoring to take the pressure off the front players a bit, so I’m pleased I was able to respond to that.

“It was a tough game, although wind was playing a part in that.

“It was hard to judge how the ball would drop down at times because it was swirling about so much.

“But I feel we coped best over the course of the game and deserved to get the three points.”

Jamie Masson and Robbie Leitch netted in the second period to secure the points, much to the delight of the majority of the 505 spectators inside the stadium.

Manager Paul said: “The performance was really good, it was professional, especially in the second half.

“We managed the game really well and they didn’t really cause us too many problems.

“They had the one shot off the bar, but we controlled the game.

“I needed a big reaction from players to what happened last week (the 4-2 defeat away to East Fife).

“We let ourselves down last week, we didn’t perform as a team.

“We played well today though, in terms of pressing the ball and our counter pressing.

“We had some good combination play – and it was good that other players chipped in with the goals.

“As a team, we were more solid, with our organisation and our discipline.”

When asked about our next match, at home to Queen’s Park next Saturday, Paul replied: “It’s a big game, the game of the day in the division, so we are looking forward to it.”
