Previous Meeting
On the 11th of September, we welcomed Montrose to the Balmoral Stadium in what was expected to be a tight and entertaining match.
We made a bright start to the match. Fyvie had the first chance of the match, forcing Fleming into an early save. Megginson also came close on numerous occassions, but again Fleming was able to prevent the ball hitting the back of the net.
We made the perfect start to the second half, scoring after just 3 minutes. After some great build up play between Scully and Megginson down the left flank, the ball was eventually slipped through to McAllister who unleashed an unstoppable strike in off the underside of the bar to give us a well deserved lead.

However, on the hour mark Montrose were awarded a penalty as Fyvie was judged to have fouled Lyons. The foul appeared to be outside the box, but the referee stuck to his decision, and Webster tucked the penalty away to bring the score level.
The referee was in the spotlight again in the 75th minute, when he sent Blair Yule off for a challenge on Dillon. Yule went in to challenge a cross in the Montrose box and collided in a 50/50 with the Montrose defender. Referee MacDermid felt there was enough in the challenge to show the second yellow.
Montrose piled the players forward for the remaining 15 minutes in attempt to snatch a winner, but it was Megginson who went closest to doing that when McIntosh caught Montrose on the break before playing Mitch in one-on-one with Fleming, but he couldn’t direct his shot on target, meaning the game ended all square.
