Montrose Preview | Harry Milne

Back to news

Defender Harry Milne spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s cinch League One meeting with Montrose at Links Park.

Harry said: “I’m reluctant to call it another big game for us because there are actually no stand-out fixtures in this league.

“That’s because all of the games are equally competitive, there isn’t a single week where you go into one thinking you could be the favourites to win.

“It’s extremely challenging, but I’m loving every minute.

“I mean no disrespect to the Highland League, but there were weeks when we knew we would win, even if we weren’t at the very top of our game.

“It was less so when we stepped up to League Two, but there were still one or two sides that you felt pretty confident about beating.

“It’s been totally different since we moved up to League One.

“Every game tests you to the limit, physically as well as tactically.

“That’s because all of the sides are evenly matched – and why you can never be sure who is going to end up with the points every weekend.

“We produced one of our best displays of the season against Queen’s Park last week, but still only came away with a point.

“That underlines how hard you have to work and fight for points – and you have to do it every week.

“It’s why the fight for promotion from this league went right to the last couple of games last season.

“You only need to look at the league table now to understand why I think it’s likely to be even closer this time around.

“We are level on points with the table leaders (Queen’s Park), with Montrose and Airdrie only a point adrift of the both of us.

“There is no margin for error, you know if you allow your standards to drop, even for one game, you could easily fall out of the leading pack.

“Even more so against Montrose, who are an excellent side and have caused us lots of problems since we came up into this division.”

Left-back Harry came off the bench for the injured Connor Scully in the second half of the 3-3 draw with The Spiders.

But he accepts there is no guarantee he will get a start at Links Park tomorrow.

Harry said: “Connor did a brilliant job at left-back while I was out injured.

“He won’t mind me saying that isn’t his favourite position, but Connor slotted in with ease and really impressed.

“His performances showed why none of us like it when we are forced to drop out of the team.

“There is so much quality in our squad and you know there are plenty of others waiting to grab any chance they can to get in ahead of you.

“I felt good after playing last weekend, but accept that doesn’t mean I will get the nod to start the game against Montrose.”
