Everyone at Cove Rangers is devastated to learn of the sudden passing of our former vice-chairman Gordon Hutcheon.
Gordon joined the club in the early 1980s and – alongside his close friend and our then chairman Alan McRae – was a driving force behind our rapid rise from playing in the amateur leagues through to us being accepted as members of the Highland League in 1986.
Gordon was a director for two decades and was also a generous sponsor of Cove Rangers, through his company Hutcheon Services Ltd.
After stepping down from the board of directors, he continued to be supportive behind the scenes, with the work he did helping get our new home at Balmoral Stadium completed among the most appreciated.
Gordon played a huge part in our club’s history and the thoughts of everyone at Cove Rangers at this sad time are with his family and closest friends.
There will be a moment’s applause in honour of Gordon ahead of this afternoon’s Scottish Cup third round tie against Queen of the South at Balmoral Stadium.
