Striker Rory McAllister spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s cinch League One clash with Alloa Athletic at Balmoral Stadium.
Rory said: “We are on an unbelievable run of form at the moment, but that has to be put to one side tomorrow.
“Every game in this league provides a different, very tough, challenge.
“We have to maintain the high standards we have shown in recent weeks or we will be punished by Alloa.
“It’s obviously good that we are facing them on the back of such a good run of the results.
“We have kept winning despite having to change the team because all the boys who have come in have done really well.
“We are scoring goals regularly and teams are finding it hard to score against us, the whole squad have to share the credit for that.
“In every game, we have stuck together and shown a real determination to churn out positive results.
“We are playing some great football too, but we have to beware of getting too carried away with ourselves.
“I’ve played at this level for a lot of years and this is the time of the year when you need to churn results out.
“It’s not at the start of the season, when teams can often get off to a slow start.
“It’s in the lead-up up to the festive season and into the early part of the new year, that’s when it’s vital to build up a bit of momentum.
“If you can do that you can suddenly find yourself a few points ahead of the some of the teams at the top end of the table.
“It’s not easy though, like I said every single game in League One is highly competitive.
“Alloa pushed us all the way down at their place and we better be ready for more of the same at Balmoral.
“They will come up with a game plan designed to make it difficult for us to play and they have players at the top end who are more than capable of causing us problems if we aren’t at it from the very first minute.”
Rory is pleased to be going into the match on the back of scoring against Falkirk in last weekend’s 3-0 win over them at the Falkirk Stadium – even more so because his 14th goal of the season was set-up by strike partner Mitch Megginson.
Rory said: “I knew the day I came here that my chances of scoring more regularly would be greater playing alongside Mitch.
“We are different kinds of players, but seem to combine well.
“His touch to put me in for the goal against Falkirk was unbelievable.
“I knew exactly where he was going to put the ball, it was then a case of staying composed to ensure I made best use of the opportunity Mitch had helped to create for me.
“I’ve also helped create goals for Mitch, our partnership is going really well and hopefully that will continue.
“I’m also eager to keep scoring because I feel I’m back to my best again.
“My last couple of years at Peterhead weren’t that great and I suspect some people were wondering if I was coming towards the end as a striker at this level.
“But I’ve always believed that I could start scoring regularly again if I was put in a good team because it’s what I’ve done for my whole career.”
