Yule Never Believe It…..Blair Named cinch League One Player of the Month

Back to news

We are delighted to announce Blair Yule has been voted the cinch League One player of the month for December.

It’s the third month in a row the award has gone to a Cove Rangers player.

Skipper Mitch Megginson picked up the trophy for November and striker Rory McAllister was the October winner.

Midfielder Blair has been rewarded for the key part he played in helping us win all four of the League One fixtures played during December.

It was also the month in which Blair netted his first SPFL goal for the club, when we ended December with a 4-2 victory over East Fife at Balmoral Stadium.

The other league wins Blair was in involved in were 2-0 at home to Dumbarton, 3-0 away to Falkirk and 3-0 at home to Alloa Athletic that helped to send us into 2022 sitting five points clear at the top of League One.

The 29-year-old also helped us beat Queen of the South 3-0 in Dumfries in a Scottish Cup replay last month.

Blair said: “I’m pretty pleased to have picked up this award, so want to thank my team-mates and everyone else at the club for helping to make it happen.

“You don’t get awarded these sort of things on your own in a team game.

“It was also pleasing to finally score in the SPFL for Cove Rangers.

“I got one when I played for Arbroath, so it was always a desire to get off the mark at this level with Cove too.

“Hopefully that goal proves to be only the first of many for me.”

Manager Paul Hartley said: “I’m really pleased the award has gone to our Mr Consistent.

“We had to ask Blair to perform in a variety of positions because the squad was stretched during the December, but he just got on with his job and performed at very high levels, just as he has always done.

“These awards tend to go to strikers who have scored a few goals during the month, so it’s nice to see a player whose efforts often go unnoticed by people outwith the club receiving some deserved recognition.

“It was the month when Blair actually scored too and we are hoping that will inspire him to keep getting forward into scoring positions.

“There is no doubt he’s capable of finding the net on a regular basis.”
