Montrose Preview | Leighton McIntosh

Back to news

Striker Leighton McIntosh spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s cinch League One meeting with Montrose at Balmoral Stadium.

Leighton said: “We are occupying the top two places in the league at the moment, so it’s the sort of game every player wants to be involved in.

“Even more so because Montrose, like ourselves, play a passing, attacking style of football.

“That should ensure it’s an interesting one for the fans to watch, but it’s also very enjoyable to play in those sort of encounters.

“I’m happy I have been able to make a contribution in recent weeks, including winning a penalty and some assists, so it would be great to play in this one too.

“But no matter who starts you can be sure they will go out ready to work hard and battle for the three points.

“The previous two meetings this season ended in draws, so nobody needs to remind us how tough the game is going to be.

“We know we will need to deliver our A-game if we are to have any chance of continuing our recent run of positive results.

“Montrose will be just as eager to cut the points gap between us and we are well aware of how much hard work we have ahead of us if we want to still be where we are at the end of the season.

“It’s only mid-January, we have achieved nothing yet.

“We need to stay focussed on each individual game and doing what is required to come out on top in them.

“You invite problems if you do anything other than that, especially in a league as competitive as ours is.”
