Defender Morgyn Neill spoke to the media ahead of this evening’s SPFL Trust Trophy semi-final clash with Queen of the South at Balmoral Stadium.
Morgyn said: “It’s a massive game for us, as players, and for the club.
“Players always say doing well in the league is the priority, but I can assure you everyone in our squad is ready to give everything to try to get to the final.
“No matter what competition you are playing in you want to go as far as you possibly can.
“Our club is full of people who have been involved at the very highest levels, especially the gaffer (manager Paul Hartley ).
“They never settle for being second best in any game.
“That strong mentality will be important because we have a very tough game ahead of us.
“Queen of the South aren’t doing as well as they would like in the Championship, but they are still a full-time side and will be as eager as we are to get to the cup final.
“We can take encouragement from managing to beat them away in our Scottish Cup replay earlier in the season.
“It means we know what they are about, but the downside is it means they also have a good knowledge of what we are about.
“It should make for an interesting tie, but we believe if we stick to our game plan and perform at our very best we are capable of getting the result we all want.
“The backing we got from the Cove Rangers supporters was a huge help when we won that last match between us down in Dumfries.
“It was a horrible night, but the fans were brilliant and helped us get through to the next round.
“I’m sure they will make themselves heard tonight too because we all know how much making it to the final would mean to Cove Rangers.
“It’s been an amazing journey already, coming up from the Highland League to win League Two and to be now competing at the top end of League One.
“It would be brilliant if we could add a cup final to that list of achievements, but we know it’s something we are going to have to work hard for.”
Fans are reminded tonight’s tie kicks off at 7.30pm and will be played to a finish, with extra-time and penalty kicks, if required.
