Midfielder Connor Scully is expecting Sunday’s cinch League One meeting with Queen’s Park at Firhill Stadium to be among the toughest we have faced all season.
“We are up against another quality side, so we are going to have to be ready for that,” said Connor.
“The game is also being played on a pitch that, to be honest, doesn’t have a lot of grass.
“A lot of people have commented on how poor the surface at Firhill is, so we will probably have to change the way we normally play to deal with that.
“It’s another big challenge, but one we are willing to take on.
“We have shown before, like when we have played in poor weather conditions, that we are capable of adjusting when needed.”
Connor accepts we will have to start better than we did against Airdrieonians last weekend if we are to have any hope of getting the result needed against our full-time hosts.
Airdrie took the lead inside the first minute and we only rescued a point thanks to a spectacular strike from Fraser Fyvie in the third minute of injury-time.
Connor said: “We can’t afford to get caught by another early sucker punch.
“You have to give Airdrie credit for their organisation after that to prevent us ever really playing at our best.
“Fraser came up with that bit of real quality at the end to ensure we avoided defeat, but we know that won’t always happen in a league as competitive as this one is.
“You really need to be on the top of your game from the very first whistle.
“Rescuing a point was a huge lift to take into this next game, but we accept we might not always be that fortunate.
“It’s vital we make a strong start this time because the clubs around us will be desperate to see us slip up at what is the crucial stage of the season.”
