Dumbarton Preview | Mitch Megginson

Back to news

Club captain Mitch Megginson is determined to send the bumper crowd expected at Balmoral Stadium tomorrow for our final home cinch League One fixture of the campaign, against Dumbarton, home happy.

Mitch spoke to the media ahead of what is a huge match for the club.

A win would see us crowned cinch League One champions and gain promotion to the Championship for next season.

Mitch said: “We aren’t taking anything for granted, we never do.

“It’s why we will be treating this game no differently to any another this season.

“There is obviously a big prize, but we must stay focussed on making sure we are at our very best over the 90 minutes.

“As a former Dumbarton player I know they will come here determined to make it difficult for us.”

Ticket sales have been hectic, helped by the fact they have been reduced to £10 for adults and £5 for concessions for the clash with the Sons.

Mitch appreciates the way the people in the north-east have rallied behind our bid to make it up to the second level of the Scottish football just three seasons after gaining promotion to the SPFL from the Highland League.

“It’s great so many people are coming to the game,” said Mitch.

“The Cove Rangers fans have a reputation for pumping up the volume at the big games.

“They did it last weekend to help us overcome a difficult start to eventually beat Alloa Athletic and set up this opportunity to win the title.

“I will also never forget how brilliant the atmosphere was when we played the home leg of our promotion play-off final against Berwick Rangers three years ago.

“There were just short of 2,000 fans inside Balmoral that afternoon and the atmosphere was electric, it inspired us to go on and do what was needed to get the job done.

“I’m sure the atmosphere will be much the same tomorrow and I can promise every one of our fans we will be giving everything that we have in the hope of sending them home happy.”
