East Fife Preview | The Manager

Back to news

Manager Paul Hartley is demanding high standards are maintained when we bring the curtain down on our cinch League One campaign away to East Fife tomorrow.

The title has been won and promotion to the Championship has been secured and we are undefeated in our last 25 league games – but Paul is calling for one final push from the players against the last side to beat us at league level.

He said: “I want to win this last game, so it will mean maintaining the high standards that have been set over the course of those last 25 matches.

“We won’t be going down there in party mode, we will be there to work as hard as we can to make sure we are as competitive as we possibly can be for the 90 minutes.”

Despite having a disappointing season that has ended with relegation to League Two, East Fife are actually the last side to beat us in a league game.

Paul said: “That is a reminder of what could happen if we were to drop off a level.

“No matter which team we put out it will be one we think can win the game.

“We can relax a little bit because the title has been won, but we have to remember there will be Cove Rangers fans making a big commitment to be there to see us for the last time before the summer break.

“We owe it to them to make sure we give it our best.

“When I was a player it didn’t matter what the stakes were in the final game, I was always desperate to finish the season on a high.”
