Flag Day Opener Against Raith

Back to news

Cove Rangers will open their first season of cinch Championship football with a home game against Raith Rovers. The League One flag will be unfurled ahead of the encounter with Ian Murray’s men, who narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season.

That will be followed by a trip to Greenock to take on Morton, and a second journey to Inverness in three weeks, the pair having been drawn together in the Premier Sports Cup.

Ayr United will then visit Balmoral Stadium for what will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs, before a reunion with Queen’s Park, who joined us in stepping up last term.

September will kick-off with back to back home games against Hamilton and Dundee, there will be a trip to Firhill to face Partick Thistle, and the first round of fixtures ends with last season’s surprise package, Arbroath, making the short trip north.

The festive period sees a home encounter with Hamilton on Christmas Eve and another journey to Inverness on January 2nd.

Manager Jim McIntyre says the fixture release has whetted his appetite even more,

“You just need to look at the list of games to see how challenging, how competitive this season is going to be. It’s only once you’ve been through the first round of matches that you’ve got a real handle on how things are likely to pan out and I’m really excited to get going”.
