Sanders Joins On Loan From Killie

Back to news

Jack Sanders has become the eighth new arrival at Balmoral Stadium this summer, joining the club on a season-long loan from Kilmarnock.

The twenty-three year old featured regularly in Killie’s successful promotion campaign last season, becoming a fans’ favourite when he scored in an Ayrshire derby victory at Somerset Park during the title run-in.

The central defender began in non-league football, being picked up by Wigan Athletic as a teenager.

He was sent out on various loan spells to help develop his career before arriving at Rugby Park last summer.

Boss Jim McIntyre is delighted to have completed the deal:

“I’m really pleased to get this one over the line. Jack has a big physical presence, he’s quick, and he covers the ground well. First and foremost, he’s a good defender, and it’s a plus for us that he knows the division and how competitive the Championship is.

“He will be a good addition, it adds to the competition for places, and it also means I have the option of using different formations if I want to.”

Part-time football will be a new experience for Jack. He was a regular last season for Kilmarnock, but has seen little action this time round, and he says he cannot wait to get playing again:

“I’ve heard good things about the club. I know they’ve not had the results they’d have wanted after getting promoted last year, but hopefully I can help with that.

“It was tough in the Championship last year, we had to dig deep to get results at times, and as you’ve seen this season, any team is capable of beating all the others.

“I’m physical, I’m fast, I like to get on the ball, but I’m also an old school defender, so I hope to be able to play my part.

“It has been a bit frustrating not getting games with Kilmarnock, but I’m a Cove Rangers player for the rest of the season, and that’s going to be my focus.”

Jack will wear the number eighteen shirt.

Cove Rangers would like to thank Derek McInnes, and all at Rugby Park, for their help in securing Jack’s signature.
