The SPFL has announced that our next encounter with current cinch Championship leaders, Ayr United, will now take place at Balmoral Stadium on Friday, January 27th, and be screened live on BBC Scotland.

It will mean the sides meeting twice in the space of six days, the pair having been drawn together in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, with that tie going ahead the previous Saturday.

In the two earlier games this season, Ayr emerged victorious by a 2-1 margin at Balmoral in August while the team twice came from behind, thanks to Connor Scully and Gerry McDonagh, to earn a battling 2-2 draw at Somerset in October.

The match will be the second to be televised by the BBC, and the Cove players will hope for a repeat of the historic first one, an impressive 2-0 victory over Queen’s Park at the start of last month.
