Everyone at Cove Rangers FC was deeply saddened to learn of the death of the former Scotland manager Craig Brown earlier this morning.
The eighty-two year old, who died peacefully in Ayr after a short illness, was universally loved and respected throughout the game, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The longest serving national team boss, Craig successfully guided the side to Euro 96 and France 98, and has been an enduring presence in the Scottish game for the past five decades.
After a playing career cut short by injury, his first managerial appointment came at Clyde, and he later took charge at Preston, Motherwell and Aberdeen.
Craig was a big supporter of Cove Rangers, always complimentary about what the club has achieved, and was a regular and welcome visitor to Balmoral Stadium.
We would all like to pass on our thoughts and best wishes to his family and friends at this sad time.
