We are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder, Paul McGowan, on a one-year deal.
Paul rose through the ranks at Celtic, and made his debut for the first team in a victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2008. After 8 appearances, including an appearance in both the Champions League and Europa League, Paul joined St Mirren in the summer of 2011, and went on to play 154 matches for the Saints, helping them to win the League Cup in the 2012/13 season.
Paul Hartley, who was the Dundee manager at the time, then brought McGowan to Dens Park in the summer of 2014. The midfielder went on to become a fan favourite, and was voted Player of the Year on multiple occasions, and also captained the club.
He was most recently on loan at Dunfermline Athletic, and helped the side win the League One title. After being released by Dundee at the beginning of summer, the midfielder returned to East End Park on trial, and featured for the Pars when they visited Balmoral Stadium in our opening pre-season encounter, scoring the equaliser late on in the game.
Paul will wear the number 7 shirt and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow night’s ViaPlay Cup tie against Premiership side Livingston.
