Supporters attending Saturday’s League One encounter with Annan Athletic will see a significant change within Balmoral Stadium.
When the Home and Away temporary stands were installed last summer to cope with the additional demands of playing Championship football, they were constructed in such a way to allow us the flexibility for them either to be expanded or reduced, depending on need.
Given we have now dropped down a division, the bigger stands are no longer required, and as such, the contractors were requested to remove a number of blocks. Because of a backlog, the project had to be delayed, but the work got underway at the start of this week.
Reducing the size of the stands is the most cost-effective option for the club, and from Saturday’s game against Annan Athletic, the seating capacity of the West Stand will be 500 with the Away East Stand dropping to 250.
Despite the reduction, the stadium still offers around 1,100 seats for fans.
