Snow Forces Training Indoors

Back to news

With the pitch at Balmoral Stadium under a blanket of snow, and underfoot conditions generally difficult, the players were forced indoors today as they continued preparations for the Scottish Cup meeting with Brora Rangers.

The tie will go ahead on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting, and manager Paul Hartley says it was vital to get a shift in:

“The players are fit, but they’ve got to keep that up, and it’s important we put the work in. Given the weather, we’ll likely have three or four similar sessions over the course of the week, and I’m just pleased we have this facility available.”

The facility in question is the Aberdeen Sports Village, and Paul got in touch with them as soon as he realised the snow was going to be an issue:

“It’s a really good set-up here, and thankfully, I managed to get it booked up for the week, as everyone else was trying to get in here as well. It’s a good sized pitch, and it works well for us.

“Being away from the stadium isn’t ideal, but we have no choice. I’ve been driving the mini-bus, picking the kit up and getting it organised, laying out everything for training; it’s probably the not so glamorous side of management that the fans don’t see, but it’s part of the job at this level, and I’m happy to do it.”

The club would like to thank Aberdeen Sports Village and the staff there for their help and co-operation.
