With the campaign drawing to a close, supporters and club staff have been busy casting their votes over the past ten days or so for the various end of season awards.

Unsurprisingly, Rumarn Burrell dominated the voting, scooping three trophies.

The fans were asked to vote for their Player of the Year, and also to choose the Goal of the Season in online polls.

The latter award went to Mark Gallagher for his outstanding long-range effort against Hamilton at New Douglas Park last July, the midfielder edging out Connor Scully and his spectacular goal against Edinburgh City down in the capital. The six nominations can be viewed at the club’s YouTube channel.

Rumarn’s goal-laden season was always going to draw plenty support, and the striker came out on top with the fans. He also won the club Player of the Year award, and topped the polling too among his team-mates, taking the players’ trophy as well.

The Young Player award went to Arron Darge who has featured in over thirty matches during the campaign, catching the eye in a number of various positions during an impressive first year at Balmoral.

The awards were handed out following the final game of the season against Edinburgh City.

Aside from the voting, special mention must be made of Connor Scully and his remarkable consistency. In last week’s encounter with Queen of the South, Connor became the first Cove Rangers player to rack up 150 league appearances for the club in the SPFL.

He has missed just seven of the 158 matches we have completed across Leagues One and Two, and the Championship, and having featured in all but one our forty-three games in all competitions last season, the midfielder was ever-present during 2023-24, starting in every match.
