Following the capture of midfielder Declan Glass, the manager has made it clear fans can soon expect to see more new arrivals at Balmoral Stadium.
It has been a busy summer so far for the gaffer as he weighs up the various options, and fully assesses what he needs to reshape his squad for the 2024-25 campaign.
Paul is confident that hard work will soon reap rewards:
“I have got Declan in, which I’m delighted with, but I am well aware we need more players. We have been looking at plenty, and I know it probably feels a bit slow at the moment, but look around the leagues; most clubs are the same. Things will pick up.”
“Last summer, given the big changes that were announced as we moved to a hybrid set-up, we probably brought too many in too quickly, so it has been a conscious decision to take our time this year.”
With four top flight sides – Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United and St Johnstone – all within easy travelling distance from Cove, the manager expects the loan market, and the chance to develop young talent, to be an area he can tap into:
“We have spoken to the Premiership clubs, we are looking at bringing a few players in, and those discussions will continue. We’ve got our experienced lads, they will be key for me, and will play a big part in helping the younger ones come through, so that’s the signing model we’re looking at. It will be a younger, more energetic team this season.”
“It is a bit of a waiting game for now, but we will hopefully get some positive news over the next couple of weeks.”
It was, of course, a disappointing conclusion to last season, but the manager says his batteries are fully recharged, and he is as excited as ever about the challenges which lie ahead:
“I’m definitely feeling ready, up for it, and looking forward to having the boys back on Saturday. We’re bringing a few in to have a look at too, players who have been recommended, which will be good, and we’ll get the work started to have the squad ready for the big kick-off.
“I always love this time of year, moving towards the start of the season, and I’m really excited and positive about the new campaign.”
