Findlay Marshall Ready To Kick-On

Back to news

There was good news for the manager this afternoon when the club was able to confirm the loan signings of two young Dons players who are tipped to have big careers ahead of them.

Winger Adam Emslie and midfielder Findlay Marshall made the switch from Pittodrie for the 2024-25 campaign, and pending Scottish FA clearance, both will be in line to make their Cove debuts against Annan Athletic in the season-opener.

Findlay, who is under contract with Aberdeen until summer 2026, cannot wait to get started:

“I’m really looking forward to it, and just can’t wait to get going tomorrow. I know the league having been at Edinburgh City; that was a different experience, but a good one, and I think it will be a help being so close to Aberdeen with this loan move. We will be training and playing with Cove, but also able to still be around Cormack Park, so it should work out well.

“From what the manager has said, my style of play fits in with how he wants to see the team, so now I’m just looking forward to meeting up with the other boys and getting started.

“I see myself as a box-to-box midfielder, hopefully I can chip in with a few goals too. I’ve had a few chats with the manager, and I already know some of the players, the likes of Finlay Murray and Milosz Ochmanski, and Fraser Fyvie too, when he was in at Aberdeen, so that will help.

“I can’t wait to get training and playing, and start to fit in with everyone.”

Paul Hartley says he is looking forward to working with the teenager:

“Findlay had a really good loan period with Edinburgh, we saw a lot of him there and he has always impressed us. He can play as a deep-lying midfielder, but also further up the pitch, he’s comfortable on both feet, is technically very good, and he fits into the way we want to play.

“This is a good opportunity for him, and he can play a big part in our team. We haven’t brought Findlay in just to be a squad player, he’s someone we think can play in the first team for sure.”

We would like to thank Aberdeen FC for their help in securing Findlay’s services. The midfielder will wear shirt number seventeen in the coming season.
