We are delighted to announce the signings of two young stars who will join the club on loan from Aberdeen FC for the 2024-25 campaign.
Adam Emslie and Findlay Marshall are highly-rated prospects within the Dons academy and will look to further develop their careers with Cove Rangers this season.
Findlay, an eighteen-year old central midfielder, and winger Adam, who is nineteen, have been regulars in the Aberdeen youth sides in recent years.
Marshall was part of the Dons’ under-18s elite League winning team and scored the deciding goal against Rangers which clinched the title. He sees this move as the next step-up in his career:
“I’m really looking forward to it, and just can’t wait to get going tomorrow. I know the league having been at Edinburgh; that was a different experience, but a good one, and I think it will be a help being so close to Aberdeen with this loan. We will be training and playing with Cove, but also able to still be around Cormack Park, so it should work out well.
“From what the manager has said, my style of play fits in with how he wants to see the team, so now I’m just looking forward to meeting up with the other boys and getting started.”
Findlay already has experience of playing in League One, having been a regular with Edinburgh City while out on loan in the second half of last season. He netted four times in sixteen appearances, including in the final game of the campaign at Balmoral Stadium.
Adam also enjoyed a loan spell in 2023-24, gaining experience with Formartine United in the Highland League. He signed a new deal with the Dons earlier this year, committing to a contract until summer 2026, and has been capped by Scotland at under-16 and under-17 levels.
He too is looking forward to what could be a big campaign for him:
“Of course, I know it’s two steps up from the Highland League, but I think I’m ready and I’m hopeful it will all work out for me. It was a difficult league to play in, but a good experience, and it will definitely help me for this season at Cove.
“This is all about getting as much game time as I can and kicking-on from here.”
Manager Paul Hartley says he is pleased to have got the boys on board, and believes they can make a real impact with us:
“Findlay had a really good loan period with Edinburgh, we saw a lot of him there and he has always impressed us. He can play as a deep-lying midfielder, but also further up the pitch, he’s technically very good, and he fits into the way we want to play.
“Adam is a good ball-carrier, has pace, can play off either side, is right-footed although he tends to come in off the left, and he will take us up the park. He had an impressive spell with Formartine last year, played a lot of games and scored plenty goals, and he can certainly enhance our team.
“I’m really looking forward to working with both of them.”
We would like to thank Aberdeen FC for all their help in arranging the loan deals and look forward to seeing Findlay and Adam in Cove shirts during the upcoming campaign.
Subject to Scottish FA clearance, both will be in the squad for tomorrow’s league opener against Annan Athletic.
