Reuben McAllister Is Signing Number Nine

Back to news

Reuben McAllister has become Paul Hartley’s ninth signing of the summer, joining the club on loan until January from Hibernian.

The eighteen year-old attacking midfielder spent the second half of the 23/24 campaign out at Kelty Hearts where he featured in eleven matches.

Reuben, the son of former Aberdeen and Hearts favourite, Jamie McAllister, is a player Paul Hartley has been well aware of for a number of years:

“I obviously know his father well, having played with him at Hearts, Bristol City and with Scotland, so I’ve known about Reuben for some time, and I’m delighted he’s joined us.

“He’s creative, a box-to-box midfielder and is left-footed, and he also knows the league after those few months with Kelty. Hibs rate him highly, they paid a decent fee for him, and he’s a talented boy. Hopefully he can fulfil his potential here.”

Reuben signed a three-year deal with the Easter Road club in the summer of 2022 and made his Hibs debut in August 2023 as a substitute in their Europa Conference League win over Inter Club.

He believes the move to Balmoral comes at a good time for him:

“I see this as a really positive step, coming in full-time, being in that first team environment. Kelty was good last year, but it was part-time; here, I can be around it on a daily basis.”

“It’s a tough league, I know that, and I feel as if it’s got stronger this year, so it should be a good test.

“My Dad is glad I’m here, he knows Paul well, and he knows this will be a good place for me to develop. I will be doing everything I can to try to impress and the plan will be to get as much game time as I can.”

Reuben will wear the number fourteen shirt in the upcoming campaign.

We would like to thank Hibernian FC for their help in arranging the loan deal.
