99 Up For Dylan

Back to news

When Dylan Lobban came on to make his debut in the weekend win over Queen of the South, the on-loan Aberdeen teenager became the 99th player to take to the field for Cove Rangers in the SPFL era.

During the period since 2019, we have played a total of 215 matches, 168 of those in the league, with an overall total of 2,897 appearances having been made.

Fifteen players have racked up fifty or more games, including eight who have gone through the 100 barrier. Arron Darge, currently on forty-eight, will join the half-centurions in the coming weeks.

Connor Scully tops the appearance list, followed by three fellow club stalwarts: Mitch Megginson, Blair Yule and Fraser Fyvie.

TOP TEN APPEARANCES (LEAGUE AND CUP) IN SPFL ERA

  • Connor Scully (207)
  • Mitch Megginson (178)
  • Blair Yule (168)
  • Fraser Fyvie (137)
  • Scott Ross (125)
  • Stuart McKenzie (111)
  • Jamie Masson (105)
  • Leighton McIntosh (102)
  • Mark Reynolds (88)
  • Harry Milne (84)

At the other end of the scale, thirty-seven players have featured in fewer than ten matches, nine of whom did not make a single league appearance.

The current Peterhead co-manager Jordon Brown holds the record for most appearances without starting a league game. He played in eighteen matches after we gained promotion to the SPFL, half of them in cup competitions, but his nine League Two showings were all from the bench.

That is something Leighton McIntosh had to get used to as well. The striker is in the top ten of games played, but forty-seven of his 102 appearances were as substitute.

With our young players out on loan and everyone else in the squad having at some point pulled on a Cove Rangers shirt, it seems likely we will have to wait until the January transfer window opens to mark our 100th SPFL player. The only exception to that would be injuries to Nick Suman and Balint Demus opening the way for Jack Robertson to make his debut.
