300 Up As Cove Hit Landmark Total

Back to news

The weekend win over Caley Thistle saw the celebration of three major milestones.

Not only did Paul Hartley mark his 500th game in football management and his 200th in charge of Cove Rangers, but when Declan Glass opened the scoring on Saturday, it was the 300th league goal scored by the club since we gained promotion to the SPFL in 2019.

Forty-three players have helped to amass that total along the way with, unsurprisingly, Mitch Megginson the major contributor. The number nine has netted eighty-one across the past five and a half years, adding to his overall club haul which now stands at 224.

Only seven more players have got into double figures of league goals for Cove with Rory McAllister, Jamie Masson and Rumarn Burrell the others to have passed the twenty mark.

TOP TEN LEAGUE GOALSCORERS IN THE SPFL

81 Mitch Megginson

24 Rory McAllister

22 Jamie Masson

21 Rumarn Burrell

17 Fraser Fyvie

15 Connor Scully

14 Leighton McIntosh

12 Harry Milne

9   Declan Glass

7   Blair Yule

Mitch is also the only marksman to have been on target in each of our six SPFL campaigns across Leagues One, Two and the Championship. Connor Scully has scored in five, but failed to net in 2019-20.

Shay Logan holds the record of having played most league games without scoring, the full-back did not record a single goal in his fifty league appearances for the club.

Included in the 300 were four hat-tricks – Megginson and McAllister with one apiece and Burrell with two – and special mention has to go to legendary goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie who also added to the total, netting the winner against Peterhead in January 2022.
