Stats Round-Up After Kelty Win

Back to news

Last night’s superb display and comprehensive victory at Kelty threw up a whole series of stats, chief among them one milestone for the club and another personal landmark for a Cove Rangers legend.

When Mitch Megginson expertly guided home Connor Scully’s corner, it was his 100th goal in all competitions during our time in the SPFL. Mitch’s century has come in 196 appearances, an impressive ratio, and he will now be targeting 100 league goals. The striker currently stands on 85 from 156 games.

In addition, he will be keen to claim the title of League One top scorer this season, last night’s header drawing him level with Kelty’s Ross Cunningham on twelve.

Our second at New Central Park, drilled home by Fraser Fyvie was the 400th overall since our promotion in 2019, and we would end the evening on 402, that total amassed from 236 league and cup matches at an average of 1.7 goals per game.

When Adam Emslie netted the fourth, the on-loan Aberdeen teenager joined an elite group as he became just the tenth player to get into double figures in our SPFL era. Mitch, of course, tops that list, followed by Rory McAllister (31), Jamie Masson and Fraser Fyvie (28), Rumarn Burrell (24), Connor Scully (21), Leighton McIntosh (18), and Harry Milne and Declan Glass (12).

There were a few appearance statistics chalked-up last night as well.

Connor Scully, Mikey Doyle and Ryan Harrington all maintained their ever-present status for the campaign, having now begun all thirty-six matches, while Connor and Mikey extended their runs of successive starts to 89 and 52 respectively.

It was a notable evening too for Balint Demus who made his 25th league start for the club.

The win at Kelty was our fourteenth in League One this season, which matches the total we achieved in the whole of 2023-24, and with eight games remaining, our points tally of 47 is just two short of our final total last time round.
