It was a notable weekend for goalkeeper Nick Suman who, after having had to wait a few weeks, celebrated his 50th Cove Rangers appearance in the 0-0 draw with Stenhousemuir.
The big Aussie marked the occasion with a couple of important saves in the second half, and becomes just the twentieth player to bring up the half century during our time in the SPFL.
Connor Scully leads that list, he is currently on 230, and remains on course for back-to-back ever-present campaigns. The midfielder is one of three players, along with Mikey Doyle and Ryan Harrington, who have started all thirty-eight games this season.
Connor has now been in the line-up for the last ninety-one competitive matches, while Mikey extended his streak to fifty-four.
Findlay Marshall and Adam Emslie each recorded their 30th Cove appearances on Saturday, while our other on-loan Aberdeen teenager, Dylan Lobban, was named man of the match.
We can now boast the longest current unbeaten home record across all four divisions of the SPFL. The draw against Stenhousemuir stretched that sequence to nine since our last loss, on their previous visit at the start of December.
Our nearest challengers are north-east neighbours Peterhead who have avoided defeat at Balmoor since losing back-to-back against Edinburgh City in League Two and Montrose in the Scottish Cup in mid-late November, a run of eight matches.
Despite the weekend’s 0-0 scoreline, we remain top scorers in League One, and our tally of 49 points has emulated last season’s total with six games still to go.
