In a season of milestones, Mitch Megginson chalked-up another notable feat against Alloa Athletic on Saturday when he played his 200th Cove Rangers game since the club joined the SPFL.
In all competitions, Mitch has netted 100 goals during that time, rounding off the century against Kelty Hearts last month. Earlier in the campaign, he also celebrated 100 career goals for the various clubs he has represented in Scottish League football.
Only Connor Scully (234) has played more games for Cove since 2019. Blair Yule is next on the list with 188, while just five other players – Fraser Fyvie (158), Scott Ross (125), Stuart McKenzie (111), Jamie Masson (105) and Leighton McIntosh (102) are in treble figures for appearances.
The weekend saw Mikey Doyle and Ryan Harrington maintain their records of starting every competitive match this season. The pair have been listed for all forty-two of our fixtures to date.
Mikey is on the verge of not only playing every game, but of not missing a single minute of action, having been on the pitch for the entire 3,780 we have completed. Ryan has been substituted three times, his collective total standing at 3,701.
Connor Scully has also featured in all forty-two matches, albeit coming off the bench in the last two.
With two games left we remain in the driving seat to reach the Championship playoffs; a win against Kelty this weekend will secure our place, with even a draw almost certainly enough given our superior goal difference.
If the club reaches the end of season shootout, it will be just the second time we have participated, the previous foray, in 2020-21 ending in extra-time heartbreak at Airdrie.
