Fraser And Mitch In Running For POTY

Back to news

We were delighted to learn that Mitch Megginson and Fraser Fyvie have been named in the four man shortlist to be PFA Scotland League One player of the year.

The pair were last week included in the team of the season, as voted for by their fellow pros around the country, and are now both in the running for the top individual honour.

They go up against Scott Stewart and Fraser Taylor of Arbroath with the winner to be announced at a gala dinner in Glasgow on Sunday, May 4th.

The recognition is well deserved after impressive campaigns for Cove, during which the pair have chalked up various milestones.

Fraser has played thirty-three games to date, netting seven goals, and a few months ago the captain made his 150th appearance for the club:

“It was great to be named in the team, and I am very happy to be one of the four in the running for the individual award. The fact that this one is voted for by the boys you’re coming up against week in, week out makes it even more special.”

That is a sentiment Mitch shares:

“I’m absolutely delighted! It’s not something you really think about during the season, but you get near to the end and the awards start coming out, and I’m really pleased to have been nominated at the grand old age of thirty-two!”

“I’d obviously be delighted to win, but there are some great players I’m up against, so it will be no surprise if one of them gets it.”

Last weekend, the striker hit the 200 mark since we joined the SPFL, having earlier celebrated his 100th goal during that time. Earlier in the season he also chalked-up a career century of goals in Scottish League football.

We are thrilled for both players and would like to congratulate them on their latest achievement.
