FALKIRK REACTION | THE MANAGER & SCOTT ROSS

Back to news

MANAGER Paul Hartley praised the players for their performances in our 1-0 defeat away to Falkirk in League One.

Callumn Morrison netted the only goal early in the second half at the Falkirk Stadium as the Bairns beat us by the narrowest of margins.

“I’m proud of the players,” said Paul.

“We played some really good stuff at times and were never out of the game.

“We knew it was a tough venue to come to and were unfortunate not to get the result we wanted.

“That’s football but this team is used to winning, we will bounce back.

“We’re not too down, we will be ready to go again next week at Airdrie.

“We are a young team in terms of playing SPFL football but have shown we are a match for anyone on our day.”

Defender Scott Ross also felt we deserved more and was encouraged by our contribution to a game that saw us denied a first half penalty (for a shove on Rory McAllister) then miss out on a last gasp equaliser when a Leighton McIntosh shot went inches wide of the Falkirk goal.

Scott said: “I thought it was a stonewall penalty.

“But it’s just one of things that can happen in games, especially when you are playing away to the more established teams, you just have to accept it.

“We are not used to losing so we have to show we can take this one on the chin and work even harder to try and get the points next Saturday.

“We can take a lot encouragement from the way we played, especially in the first half.

“Their keeper made a couple of very good saves and we went close with some other chances too.

“I also felt we played the better football, everyone knows we are a footballing team.

“We keep the ball on the deck, which is the way the game is meant to be played.

“Unfortunately, there are days when you don’t get the rewards you want from doing that, but we will quickly move on.

“It’s also good that we were still pushing for the equaliser as the game went into the last 10 minutes, you could see our fitness levels kicking in.

“It’s encouraging that we were able to match a full-time side on that front.”

Midfielder Jamie Masson missed the Falkirk game through suspension but will be available for selection at Airdrie.
