HEARTS DUO JOIN ON LOAN

Back to news

WE are delighted to confirm Hearts duo Connor Smith and Cammy Logan have joined us on loan for the remainder of the season.

Both aged 18, midfielder Connor and defender Cammy go straight into the squad for this weekend’s Scottish Cup second round visit to Alloa Athletic.

Manager Paul Hartley said: “I would like to thank Hearts and manager Robbie Neilson for agreeing to allow us to work with Connor and Cammy over the next few months.

“Connor first came to our attention when he played against us while on loan to Cowdenbeath last season.

“He really impressed us and I’m confident he will do well for us over the remainder of the campaign.

“Cammy made his first team debut for Hearts when he was aged just 16, which underlines how highly they rate him.

“The loan spell offers both players the opportunity to gain more first team experience.

“It also means we have the use of two of the country’s most promising young talents, which will be an asset as we progress through the season.”

Both teenagers made their Premiership debuts for Hearts against Kilmarnock in May 2018.

Attacking midfielder Connor made his first start for the Jam Tarts in a 1-1 Edinburgh Derby draw with Hibs at Easter Road the following season.

Connor spent part of last season on loan to home-town side Cowdenbeath and the first half of the current campaign playing for Arbroath.

The younger brother of Hamilton striker Callum, he captained the Scotland Under-17 side and was also capped at Under-16 level, paying in victories over England, Uruguay and Russia.

Connor is a product of the SFA Performance School based at Edinburgh’s Broughton High School.

Right-back Cammy was also capped for Scotland at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

Connor and Cammy were also in Billy Stark’s Under-18 squad that played in an international tournament in Turkey in September, where they beat Paraguay 2-1, Cameroon 2-0 and drew 0-0 with Angola.

Everyone at Cove Rangers would like to welcome Connor and Cammy to the club and wish them well during their time at Balmoral Stadium.
