Mitch Megginson Named League One Player Of The Year

Back to news

Mitchel Megginson has been named as SPFL League One Player of the Year for Season 2020/21.

Mitch has been rewarded for netting 15 goals to help the club finish third in our first campaign at League One level and also make it to the Championship Play-Offs.

Club captain Mitch said: “I’m delighted on a personal level, it’s always great to get recognition for something you love doing.

“I have to thank my team-mates, I’ve always said strikers are only as good as they support they get from others on the park.

“The coaching staff also deserve huge credit for helping all of us come through what was one of the most challenging seasons in our careers.”

Mitch, who has now netted 170 goals in 195 appearances for the club, admitted he is already looking forward to next season.

“My one big wish is it will be one when we finally welcome our fans back into Balmoral Stadium,” he said.

“We have really missed their backing, hopefully it’s not too long before they are back with us.

“I’m also pleased to be getting closer to the 200 goal mark for Cove, that’s one achievement I certainly have my eye on.

“It would be a big ask to get there next season because I think League One will be even more competitive than it was this season.

“I’ve always liked to challenge myself, so I will be giving it my all.”
