PETERHEAD REACTION: HARRY & THE MANAGER

Back to news

HARRY Milne was thrilled to score his first goal at League One level as we beat Peterhead 2-0 on Saturday at Balmoor.

Left-back Harry netted our second, with captain Mitch Megginson claiming the opener in a game that was played in difficult conditions because of the strong wind sweeping down the length of the pitch.

Harry, who netted with a crisp low drive early in the second half, said: “It was good to score.

“I usually manage to chip in with a goal here and there most seasons, I got four last term.

“Hopefully I will be around about that mark again, but the most important things is helping us win the games.

“My main job is to defend, so I’m as pleased with the clean sheet as I am about the goal.”

Peterhead had the advantage of the wind at their backs in the first half and our keeper  Stuart McKenzie made three crucial early saves to keep them out.

He also helped set up our first goal and Harry was happy to acknowledge Stuart’s vital contribution to the win.

Harry said: “Stuart is superb, but we have all known that for years.

“We were lucky he was in such good form early on and that he is so good with his kicking, especially against the wind.

“You could see their goalie struggling with that in the second half, which underlines how great a pick out that was from Stuart for the first goal.”

The manager said: “It was a tough game, made no easier because of the difficult conditions.

“The wind made it pretty much a game of two halves.

“I was delighted we managed to get ourselves ahead playing against it in the first half.

“Our goalkeeper and defence played big parts in that.

“They were strong, kept a good shape and limited the amount of chances Peterhead had.

“We were able to pass the ball a lot better after the break and I feel we did more than enough to deserve to take the three points.”

Next up for us is a home clash next Saturday against full-time Partick Thistle, which Harry admitted he is looking forward to.

“Some of the lads played against Partick in the cup a few years ago but that was before I came to the club,” said Harry.

“I’m really looking forward to it because they are one of the most famous clubs in the country, with a great history.

“The fact they are full-time means it will also be a tough game – but the manager has already drilled it into us that every game in this league is going to be tough for us.

“We will treat next Saturday’s one the same way we do every game – feeling that we can get a result but accepting that will only happen if we are willing to put in the right effort.”
