COVE Rangers are delighted to confirm the signing of former Aberdeen attacking midfielder Seb Ross. The 20-year-old Scottish youth international has agreed a three year contract after leaving Pittodrie at the end of last season.
Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley said: “I’m excited by this signing, we’ve got a very good player on our hands in Seb. He received an excellent schooling during his time with Aberdeen, performing well at youth level and earning the honour of captaining their reserve side as well. What Seb needs now is to push his career on to the next level by playing regular first team football. We’ve offered him that opportunity because we love working with young, ambitious, players and I’m certain Seb will prove to be a big asset to us in the coming seasons.”
Inverurie-born Seb is a product of Aberdeen FC’s Youth Academy. He went full-time with the Dons at the age of 16 and played a starring role as they reached the 2018 Scottish Youth Cup final. Seb spent the 2018-19 season on loan to League Two side Stenhousemuir, making 22 appearances and scoring three goals for The Warriors.
On his return to Pittodrie, Seb was made captain of the Dons reserve side and his form was good enough to earn him a call up to the first team squad. That was after impressing the watching Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes when the Dons beat a youthful Cove Rangers side 5-0 in the Aberdeenshire Shield at Balmoral Stadium in November.
Seb was also on the bench for Aberdeen’s 2-1 Premiership home victory over Livingston last December and the away trip to Rangers at Ibrox. He then travelled with the senior squad to their training camp in Dubai during the Premiership’s winter break, in January of this year.
The midfielder followed that by captaining Aberdeen to victory over Motherwell in the Semi-Finals of the Reserve League Cup in February. Unfortunately, the suspension of the season due to the COVID-19 crisis means the final, against Celtic, has yet to be played.
Seb is the third new arrival during the close season, following on from the signings of former Wrexham striker Leighton McIntosh and ex-Motherwell defender Adam Livingstone. He will wear the number 16 shirt.
Everyone at Cove Rangers would like to welcome Seb to the club and wish him success during his time at Balmoral Stadium.
