Adeyemo Joins Cove

Back to news

We are delighted to confirm the signing of former Watford, Dundee United and East Fife striker Ola Adeyemo.

The 26-year-old, who was born in Nigeria but raised in London and Dublin, has agreed a deal until January and will wear the number 17 shirt.

Ola goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s cinch League One clash with Montrose at Balmoral Stadium.

Manager Paul Hartley said: “We are delighted to get Ola on board.

“He’s been in training for the last week or so and has really impressed.

“Ola has pace as well as strength, so gives us a different option at the top end of the pitch.

“It’s also good to have another striker in because nobody really knows how things are going to go as far as the squad being affected by the pandemic goes.

“It was important to add a bit more cover as well as competition up front.

“It’s now up to Ola to make the best of the opportunity he has been given.

“The onus is on him to impress us, in training as well as games, and force his way into the starting line-up.”

Ola, who was with League of Ireland First Division side Wexford, was a youth player with St Patrick’s Athletic and began his senior career in 2013, with University College Dublin.

He signed for Dundee United in 2014 and made his Premiership debut for them, against Kilmarnock, in October of the same year.

He also spent a spell on loan to East Fife during his spell at Tannadice.

Ola then secured a move to English Premier League Watford in 2016, after a successful trial with their reserve side.

Ola also played for Norwegian club Valdfres FK and English lower league sides Walton and Lewes before returning to Ireland to sign for Wexford in July of last year.

He is eligible to play for England or the Republic of Ireland and has trained with Nigeria’s Under-23 side.

Everyone at Cove Rangers would like to welcome Ola to the club and wish him well during his time at Balmoral Stadium.
