Midfielder Connor Scully says only our best will do if we are to back up our narrow cinch League One victory at Peterhead with a home win over Airdrie this coming weekend.
Rory McAllister’s late penalty gave us a 1-0 win at Balmoor Stadium.
Next up is a clash with the Diamonds at Balmoral Stadium on Saturday, our first meeting since Airdrie beat us in the semis of last season’s Championship Play-offs.
Connor said: “There will be no talk of revenge or anything like that, we have put what happened in that last game behind us.
“It’s a new season, so every match is a fresh challenge.
“We know we will have to be at our best if we want to take anything off Airdrie, who are among the favourites to be competing for promotion again.
“Playing at home will help, we always fancy ourselves against anyone at Balmoral because the surface suits the way we like to play.”
Connor is pleased to be facing the Diamonds on the back of winning up in the Blue Toon – and recording our first league clean sheet of the season.
He said: “We defended well as a unit and created the most chances, so I feel we deserved to win.
“It was great to get a clean sheet as well.
“Hopefully we can take confidence from that and kick on from here.
“Clean sheets haven’t been so easy to get this season.
“We had loads of them last season and they helped us pick up a lot of points because we know every game in this league is tight.
“If we could do that again it could help give us a bit of momentum as we go through the campaign.”
Connor was back in the heart of midfield after performing as an emergency left-back the previous week.
“It was good to get back in the middle and I did my best to deliver what the manager had asked me to,” he said.
“I’m just happy to get a game, no matter what position that might be in.”
