Previous Meeting

We welcomed the Diamonds to the Balmoral Stadium in our last match of September.

The opening 45 minutes was evenly contested.

Airdrie’s Frizell went close in the 15th minute but sent his header wide, and just minutes later Easton tried his luck from the edge of the box but also missed the target.

McAllister had a glancing header from close ranged saved by Currie in the 22nd minute.

The second half was much better from Cove.

Scully did brilliantly to play Megginson through on goal, but Currie in the Airdrie goal stood strong and denied Mitch’s powerful strike from going in.

From the resulting corner, Milne rose highest and headed goal-wards, but was unfortunate to see his attempt rattle back off the woodwork.

15 minutes later, Morgyn Neill connected with a Vigurs free-kick, and again the crossbar prevented us from taking the lead.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute, when Neill stayed up the pitch after a corner.

He found himself free in the Airdrie penalty area, and diverted his header thunderously into the back of the net.

Our defence stayed strong for the remaining 15 minutes and dealt with the Airdrie pressure, and ensured the game finished 1-0, and the three points were staying in Cove.
