Jamie Masson Challenges Teammates to Maintain High Standards

Back to news

Midfielder Jamie Masson has challenged his teammates to maintain the high standards that earned us a 3-0 cinch League One win over Peterhead at Balmoral Stadium last weekend.

Jamie said: “We were really good from the start, from the very first whistle.

“We were right on it, which was more like the us of old.

“The change in formation worked a treat too, it was just one of those days when everything, as a team, just clicked.

“I really enjoyed it because the extra men in midfield gave me more freedom to link up with Mitch (Megginson) and Rory (McAllister) further up the park.

“They are so good with their movement and lay-offs, it allowed me space to get in on goal and I feel I was very unlucky not to score at least once.

“I’m always happier when I do score, but the main aim, as ever, is to come away with the three points, which we did.

“The challenge now is to attempt to repeat that in every game from here on.

“We will certainly need to be at our best again when we face Airdrie at the weekend.

“They are at the top of the league on merit and will fancy their chances of beating us.

“But we can give anyone a tough game if we apply ourselves properly and that’s what we will be trying to do.”

Jamie was chosen as the man-of-the-match by sponsors OMH Management and saw that as further proof that he has now put the ankle injury – that saw him miss the second half of last season – behind him.

“I’m feeling stronger and fitter with each passing game,” he said.

“To start with, it was just good to be back on the pitch after all that I had been through.

“I always knew it would take me a wee while to get back to speed, but I felt I was closer to being where I want to be against Peterhead.

“The fact the role I was asked to play meant I had to do a lot more running probably helped.

“I know I’m not there yet, I’m still working hard on my fitness in between every game – but I also know I need to keep making a positive contribution in games if I want to stay involved while doing that.”
