Defender Ryan Strachan says momentum from our recent run of good form must be carried into Saturday’s cinch League One match against Clyde at Broadwood in order to back up our victory over Peterhead.
Ryan was happy to come away from Sunday’s difficult match against the Blue Toon with all three points, saying: “Balmoor is always a tough place to play.
“The grass pitch is different condition to what we are used to, it’s got a sloping hill and there is often a strong wind.
“Peterhead are always up for playing against us as well.
“We’ve always found it a challenge when we play there.
“We know what to expect, but we just need to be professional and get the job done and that’s exactly what we did on Sunday.
“We didn’t play particularly well, but we got the result and that’s what we wanted.”
Ryan was delighted to keep a clean sheet against Peterhead, after our streak of six league matches without conceding a goal was ended by Kieran Miller of East Fife in our previous match.
Ryan said “We were on a terrific clean sheet run before conceding against East Fife, which we were all disappointed about.
“It’s great, especially as a defender, that we managed to keep a clean sheet against Peterhead.
“If we’re strong at the back and don’t give much away, it breeds confidence throughout the rest of the team.
Ryan also praised goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie for the role he played in the victory
“If the strikers are scoring then they get the plaudits, and if Stuart (McKenzie) is making saves then rightfully so he should be getting them as well”, he said.
“He contributed to our winning goal, and he pulled off a couple of big saves to ensure we got all three points.”
On Saturday, we travel to Broadwood to face Clyde, a side who have not lost in their last six games in cinch League One.
When asked about our upcoming match, Ryan said: “We’ve sometimes struggled against Clyde, but we know exactly what to expect from them on Saturday.
“They’ll be nitty-gritty, so we need to make sure we prepare well for the game, do the right things on the pitch, and carry our momentum into Saturday’s match.
“If we do all of this, hopefully we will be able to get the win.
“Every team can beat each other on their day, so we must go down there and work for the three points.
“Clyde have some really good players in their team, one of which is David Goodwillie.
“He’s prolific, and has been at every level he has played at.
“He is a tough player to play against, he is strong and quick and pulls defenders into funny positions that are hard to defend against.
“However, whether he is or isn’t there, our game plan will be about us and not about the opposition.”
